In DIMENSIONS, Greek cellist, improviser, and composer Yiorgos Kaloudis presents a selection of original compositions, improvisations, and unreleased material from his personal discography.

The Classical Cretan Lyra and cello transcend their traditional roles as bowed instruments, also functioning as percussive and tonal media. Their subtle timbres and melodic potentials create introspective, ethereal soundscapes.

Kaloudis blends cello and lyra with vocals, electronics, and live-looping, crafting multi-dimensional sonic landscapes that merge classical, ambient, and improvisational music. The recital unfolds as a poetic musical journey, exploring the full expressive possibilities of both instruments—the lyra, a descendant of the 9th-century Byzantine lyra, and the cello—while highlighting his innovative techniques and nuanced interpretation.
