Collaborative Projects (1996–Present):
Theodor Currentzis
Since February 2023, a unique collaboration has begun with conductor Theodor Currentzis, leading to performances with the musicAeterna Orchestra and Choir at the Diaghilev Festival in Perm, as well as with the Utopia Orchestra and Choir at the Salzburg Festival. In February 2025, this collaboration continued with the European Winter Tour, featuring Purcell’s opera The Indian Queen, at the Berliner Philharmonie, the De Singel in Antwep and a private concert at the Église Saint-Eustache in Paris.
Alongside these projects, he has presented a series of solo recitals and has been invited to give lectures and masterclasses.
musicAeterna orchestra & choir (2023–Present)
Kaloudis has been invited by the conductor and founder of musicAeterna, Theodor Currentzis, to participate in their productions since the summer of 2023, performing at prestigious venues such as Dom Radio in St. Petersburg and the Diaghilev Festival in Perm.
Utopia Orchestra orchestra & choir (2023–Present)
Kaloudis has been invited by the conductor and founder of musicAeterna, Theodor Currentzis to participate with the Utopia Orchestra and Choir, performing in Purcell’s opera “The Indian Queen”, at the Salzburg Festival 2023, and the winter tour of 2025 at the Berliner Philharmonie, the De Singel in Antwep and a private concert at the Église Saint-Eustache in Paris. . This collaboration highlighted his versatility in both traditional and contemporary musical settings.
Irini Tsirakidis (2018–Present)
Since 2018, Kaloudis has partnered with mezzo-soprano Irini Tsirakidis. Their collaboration combines classical vocals with the unique timbre of the classical Cretan lyra, resulting in captivating performances that bridge traditional and classical music.
HOMER by Sophia Hill (2015–Present)
Since 2015, this theatrical quartet has reimagined Homer’s Odyssey. Directed by Sophia Hill and orchestrated by Yiorgos Kaloudis, the ensemble—Sophia Hill, Ruth Hill, Yiorgos Kaloudis, and Antonis Myriangos—blends music, drama, and storytelling with classical instruments like the Lyra and kanun.
Ruth Hill (2004–Present)
Since 2004, Kaloudis has collaborated with kanun player Ruth Hill. Their partnership focuses on creating atmospheric soundscapes that merge classical, world, and jazz music elements, utilizing live-loop-recording techniques.
THESIS Trio (2018-2024)
THESIS Trio champions contemporary Greek compositions. Featuring Irini Tsirakidis (mezzo-soprano), Dimitra Kokkinopoulou (piano), and Yiorgos Kaloudis (cello, Classical Cretan Lyra, arrangements), the trio brings modern works to life, combining classical instruments and vocals in innovative ways. (2018-2024).
Lemoncello (2012–2015)
In 2012, Kaloudis formed Lemoncello with pianist Sotiris Lemonidis. The duo focuses on original compositions that explore the fusion of classical and contemporary music, offering a fresh perspective on musical storytelling.
CHOSEN Trio & Truth Album (2003-2009)
Formed in 2007, CHOSEN features Sylvan Richardson (bass guitar), Ruth Hill (kanun), and Yiorgos Kaloudis (cello/composer). Their performances fuse jazz, world music, and improvisation. The trio gained international recognition at the Manchester Jazz Festival, showcasing a rich, innovative sound.
Faros Duo (2002–2008)
Formed with saxophonist David Lynch, Faros is a duo that delves into experimental and improvisational music, blending elements of jazz and world music. Their performances have been noted for their innovative approach and musical synergy,
utilizing live-loop-recording techniques.
Occasional Dream (1996–2001)
Kaloudis's early involvement in the Greek jazz-fusion group Occasional Dream marked the beginning of his professional journey. This collaboration laid the foundation for his exploration of diverse musical genres.
Other Collaborations
From 1993 to 2017, Yiorgos Kaloudis engaged in a wide array of collaborations and recordings spanning diverse musical genres. As a cellist, Classical Cretan Lyra performer, improviser, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist, he contributed to projects in music, theater, and cinema, showcasing his extraordinary versatility and creative vision.
A highly sought-after session musician, Kaloudis performed extensively in Greece and internationally, touring Europe, North America, Australia, Russia, Japan, Turkey, Egypt, Mexico, and Kazakhstan. His collaborations range from classical and contemporary works to jazz, world music, and experimental projects, leaving a distinctive mark on every performance and recording.
These experiences not only expanded his artistic horizons but also enriched his musical language, allowing him to blend tradition with innovation, and contributing to his enduring influence on the global music landscape.
On February 5th, 2025, he performed with Teodor Currentzis, the UTOPIA Orchestra and Choir, and soprano Jeanine De Bique in a private concert at the Église Saint-Eustache in Paris, featuring They Tell Us, from Henry Purcell’s The Indian Queen, realized by Teodor Currentzis.
